April 2012: Madness

We began with 19 bloggers; quickly lost one to a job promotion; almost lost one to a broken toe; and in the final week did lose one to a badly sprained ankle.

20-2=18 fools who managed to post a photo a day for 30 days. In. A. Row.

That's the math.

Here's the after.

By the end of the 30 days, most of the rules had been slightly bent or broken. Almost everyone complained, if not on a daily basis, at least once or twice.

They kept me laughing so hard that, at times, I forgot how difficult some of these prompts were to photograph. For that, they have my undying gratitude.

This collage contains one photo from each of their April blogs. I don't know if it's frame-worthy, but it captures the essence of what this month has looked like from so many perspectives.

Because I could, I made a variety of badges for those who finished the challenge with grace style dignity peals of frightening maniacal laughter.

Feel free to grab any or all of them for your badge collection.

I'd like to formally introduce you to the people and blogs behind April's insanity.

The brain trust that started this thing are the lovely Ziva from Ziva's Inferno and the ever insane Michael at Too Many Mornings.

Some of the others contributed ideas to the pot of prompts while the rest of us were just hangers on.

This is where you can find these weirdos:

00dozo from the lost island of When I Reach.
Bryan, the ever Unfinished Person.
Liz A. from somewhere less Seriously.
John from the land of bad puns nonamedufus.
Katherine the ever-embarrassed writer of Shoot Me Now.
LaughingMom in search of Where's the Funny Here.
Malisa who shoots without warning at Moonlight Hollow Pent-Up Photos.
Mariann always experimenting with something at Blogged Down at the Moment.
Meleah, the irrepressible, from Momma Mia, Mia Culpa.
Mo from over the big pond where beavers live at maddOg.
Nicky and Mike co-host but don't co-habitate up at We Work for Cheese.
Nora who went away to the EBWW but kept up with this on Door in Face.
Tanya from the land of books and more books at Dog Eared Copy.

To each and every one of you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to tag along.

  1. Lol! Mike needs the one about having your eyes pecked out!

Cheryl this is great! I had so much fun taking the photographs and seeing everyone else's. I'm tired and I've run out of time to work on it but in spite of that I'm a little sad that it's over. I've had a blast!

    1. I'm exhausted, heading into month-end madness at work, and am so glad to have been part of this. I haven't had this much online fun, ever. I'm a bit sad it's over too.

  2. The collage is great, I think it's fabulous you've done that as it sums up the whole shenanigans extremely well.

I hope I keep in contact with you lot after this, yes it did drag on a bit...and there were moments (about 20 of them) when I ended up snapping away five minutes before I left for work...but it was worth it and I DID enjoy it.

    1. This was one of those things that just had to be done. I enjoyed all of it, especially the whining. I don't get to do that much in my offline life so this was great.

  3. Awww...that was sooooooooo incredibly friggen sweet...I think I will grab all the little badges - because, dammit, I always, always think I don't have enough of those things! I also need to find out how to pop one INTO my blog...but, other than that, thank you. :)

    1. You hate sweet, right?

If you seriously don't know how to do put these things on your blog, I'm more than will to try to help you navigate the process. It's not hard but you do need to go to places behind the blog you may not have ever wanted to go.

  5. Wow, that is fabulous. That's a great collage - you know, I went to collage, eh? - and I'm stealing the "lousy" badge. This has been so much fun.

  7. This is not only great, it was a lot of work. Thank you!

You have been an absolute delight to have on this little experience, Cheryl, despite your unholy love of birds, which are, as you might know, here only to peck out eyes out. Because that's what birds do. They peck our eyes out.

    1. Thank you Mike! If not for you and Ziva knowing 00dozo, I'd have never found y'all. This has been a blast from my very late beginning to end.

About midway through, I went back through everyone's posts and started snagging shots I liked or shots the person who posted them liked. Over time I added a few of the newer shots to use in place of the originals. In your case, I kept that ceiling light because you like lightning so much, not because you didn't post other things I really liked. Same goes for a lot of the older shots the others took like Ziva's Stranger. I can't believe I didn't grab one damn Outlier. All I can say is I must have been exhausted by then. By the way, it was a conscious choice not to include a toothbrush.

    1. You're welcome. I had a few B&W's just for you but I got a bit tired so just went with what I had.
